Yes, we are instructed by God to care for the widows, orphans, aliens, poor, hungry, and anyone else who may need help. In fact, Jesus says that whatever we do unto the least of these we do unto Him (Jesus Christ Himself). BUT – these instructions are for the church, not the government. I do not need nor want my countries’ government or my state’s government to dictate to me how I should be living my life. I do not need any governing body to tell me that I need to share what I have with others who may have less. I take my responsibilities very seriously; but these are not government mandated responsibilities, these are God-mandated responsibilities. If the government would back up and let the church do what it is called to do, there would be much more “social justice” in this world.
